Jakes August Update

Hi everyone
>
> It's been a busy few weeks with a couple of important races as well.
>
> At the start of August I had the National Mountain Bike Championships which was held at wasing estate down south. I had a fairly good ride coming home in 13th, although I was hoping for a top 10.
>
> Then I had 10 days of family holiday where I got plenty of riding in down the new forest. After that I had 3 days back at home and then I went over to Lichfield where I stopped with some family friends and worked in cycleshack. And got plenty of riding in as well.
>
> I stopped there for a week and did the last round of the back on track mountain bike series. It was a really good course with a lot of technical sections. I came second to a very strong rider, but enjoyed the race a lot!
>
> And last weekend I had the last round of the National Mountain Bike Championships. And as you have seem earlier in my update I've been doing a lot of training and not enough resting. It caught up with me and had a DNF.
>
> I'm hoping to change things around after learning from that mistake and start the cyclocross season off on a high next weekend at the first round of the Lincolnshire league.

Jakes July Update

Nothing much has really been happening lately other than the 4th round of the National mountain bike series which was held up in Scotland. The weather was horrible and the course was super muddy, I got off to bad start and was struggling to make up places as there was a lot of running in the first half a lap. Then I came into a decent which wasn't difficult as all and just lost the front wheel landing awkwardly on my back. I had the week off my bike to give it a rest and have physio on it. Then I got back on my bike the next week. This week I've caught the sickness bug which isn't very convenient. I have the National mountain bike championships in two weekends time all being well and then I will be riding on the road a lot more ready for the cyclocross season.

Thanks to everyone for there help,
Jake

Jakes June Update

Things have been great recently, training has been going well and the couple of races I did have gone well.

I have done Bingham mountain bike race, which is part of a Friday night series which was a good, fun circuit where the youths start with the senior men and everyone else. I had a great start and moved into 4th and held that for 2 laps and then my chain dropped off so I slipped back to 6th overall. I won the youths which was half an hour but I carried on for the full hour and finished 7th overall.

2012 Early Season Update

Hi Everyone,

Sorry there hasn't been an update for some time but everything is going great. I did my first race at Dronsfield in april which was a mountain bike race, part of the midlands xc series. I raced it to get a good gauge of where I was at that point. I didn't have a very good result and my lap times were well down but since then I've been getting a lot fitter and beginning to feel better on the bike.

Hi Everyone,

Healing Nicely!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry there hasn't been an update for some time, but everything is going great at the minute with my back. I am now able to fit on a excersise bike for a couple of minutes. Also I am now able to sit in the office chair without my brace on for half an hour.

I'm back to sheffield for my final x-ray on the 17th, when hopefully I should be healed up. I will be putting another update on after the hostpital, when I should have a better idea as to when things will really start to move forward.

Thanks for all the support!

UK School Games

Hi Everyone,

Sorry there hasn't been an update for a while but I've had a busy couple of weeks. My recent event was the Sainsbury's UK school games held in sheffield this year. This is a multi sport event for youths from 14-16 year old from both sexes.

I was to compete in the mountain bike event with the East Midlands team.

National Circuit Championships

This weekend was the National circuit championships held in Bradford.

It was a tough course with a long quite steep climb. I was at the back if the grid as I hadn't done that many National Circuit races this year. It went fast from the go and I couldn't get up to the main peleton.

National MTB Champs

This weekend was the National MTB XC Championships and a very muddy one. I did 2 laps in the afternoon on Saturday and it was slightly dryer than race day. I choose really good tyres for the race which really helped me and there was a tricky decent and steep climbs. But I liked the course. I rained all the way up to the start. I missed my foot slightly and had to chase straight up the climb where I was hoping to already be with them. Then blew on the second one having to recover after the hills for half a lap the top 4 had a massive gap. I road the rest of the first lap on Thomas Craig's wheel. Getting past him after the climb. He had a fall before the tricky decent which gave the gap I needed to clinch 5th which after thinking about was pleased after being ill for a week and a bit.
Bug thanks though to you all, my next race is this Friday night at rugby for a MTB race and then on the Sunday it's  the National Crit Champs.

Thanks again,
Jake

BMBS Round 4 - Margam Park

last weekend was the 4th round of the  British mountain bike series held at Margam park, Wales. On practise day it was raining and made the course slippery, but everyone knew that it was going to get very hot for race day.   It wasn't my favourite course with a lot of climbing in it, but I knew I had got better since last year. But the race came and I didn't feel confident on the start but I told myself that I would be fine after the start. I got a good start and was in to second for the first climb. But I lost a lit of places there and soon knew that I had picked the wrong front tire as I got to the first of camber bit. I borrowed a narrower rocket ron from someone but wish I had kept my wider one. But I got round the first lap and second lap gaining one place and getting fourth a long way down on the rest, but still good points.
I hope the National champs will be a lot better race for me.

BMBS Round 3

This weekend was round 3 of the British Mountain Bike Series held at Wasing near Reading. It was a fun course to ride with quite a lot of technical twisty sections, and a few short fire tracks. I really enjoyed the conditions on race day as it had rained in the night and had given the course a slippery surface.
